Selecting a consultant
To ensure you receive a quality service that effectively meets your needs, below are some suggested questions when considering a consultant.
- What services can you provide to meet my needs?
Do you have ‘packages’ or services that can be tailored to our organisation’s needs?
- Can you develop something specifically for us?
- Who ‘owns’ that package?(intellectual property)
- What is your specific expertise?
* How have you developed that? (formal & experiencial)
* How does your personal experience of disability inform the service you provide?
* To what extent is your experience of your disability able to be generalised to other disabilities/issues re the service you provide. - What are the costs/service fee structure?
- Does this include any support or additional costs you may incur?
- Do you have insurances – what and how much? - What guarantee is provided in relation to quality of service provision and adherence to time lines?
- Do you have/can we agree to a contract that provides for delivery of specific outcomes with & quality indicators, with a timeframe (deliverables & dates)? - What are some projects in which the services performed are similar to the requested project?
- Can you provide me with the contact details of referees and past clients who have used your service? Can I contact these people?
